The event was begun by friends Charly Weger and Andrew Hourmont and held in Innsbruck, Austria in 1994. The pair only expected to see a few visitors at their contest, however several thousand arrived. After the first year the Air and Style contest continued to grow and gain sponsorship. Most people came to see the difficult Straight Jump trick from the snowboarders.
In 2002, Air & Style Munich joined with the newly formed Ticket To Ride World Snowboard Tour to create a 6 star event in the popular world tourSponsors have included large companies such as Billabong, Nokia and Red Bull. Each event offers a mixture of live music, small contests and entertainment for visitors and professional snowboarders alike.
