Spiked X in the City (XTC), the innovative new urban action sports event, is going to bring buzz, excitement and adrenaline to London whilst encouraging, inspiring and engaging people, breaking down social barriers, increase participation in sport and promote active, healthy life styles.
Set to be not just the UK's but Europe’s biggest and most interactive urban action sports event ever, Spiked X in the City will be held at the weather proof ExCel centre in the heart of London’s docklands over half term from 22-24 October 2010.
The event will focus around eight main zones of action : Art of Combat, PK:Gen Parkour Gathering Global, Ride and Roll, Roller Derby, Freestyle, Urban Freeski & Snowboard, Water and the X in the City in association with ZT Fight Skool MMA Amateur Tournament.
You will be able to watch, try and learn from the experts getting as close to the action as you want to be. This is no ordinary event as there is nothing quite like this in terms of who is there and what you can get involved in. Some sports you will know and love, some will be new and some you have always wanted to have a go at. There is a whole sustainability vibe to the event with key underlining messages of making sport accessible, working on a sustainable platform and ensuring everyone has the most amazing time.
Part stunning spectacle - part hands on experience, you will be able to get involved in a wide range of urban and extreme sports that will get your adrenaline pumping - watch demos, have a go, learn skills from the experts in ‘how to’ Master classes and engage with action sports talent, athletes and chamoions, or just chill out in the music lounge and watch the action happen around you while listening to top urban DJs and MC’s.
X in the City will feature a world-class line-up of professional urban action sports performers including UK, European and World champions, getting you close to and involved in real-life action. From the world's leading parkour runners and Mixed Martial Arts stars to Muay Thai world champions, Skateboarders, BMXers and inliners to urban street dance battles. Top crews including the great Britain Urban MTB 4X-Cross team, the Windsor Roller Girls and the London Roller Girls, leading exponents of the hottest and most extreme new all female sport Roller Derby.
Spiked XTC will also feature new sports never seen in the UK.
Alongside the demos and taster sessions Spiked X in the City will see over 200 companies showcasing the latest in urban action sports equipment for everyone to check out, try and buy the latest kit, accessories and fashion.
The event is partnered up with and supported by over 20 leading urban, action and extreme sports associations and will support a range of charities including Sea Shepherd, Live Life then Give Life, Snowcamp, Science Junkie, Streets Utd, KIDSCAPE and London Youth to name a few.
